Sustainability

It is important to us to source the best – in a sustainable and ethical way – directly from nature.

"The best" for us means leaving all ingredients as natural as possible. In the case of our cacay oil, this means that it is 100% organic cacay nuts, sourced directly from farmers and indigenous communities in Colombia and grown sustainably.

Gentle Manufacturing Processes

The manufacturing process of cacay oil is minimal and does not require the use of synthetic chemicals or additives. The oil is extracted by cold pressing, which preserves the integrity of the natural ingredients, thereby minimizing environmental pollution and waste.

Conservation of the Rainforest

Cacay trees are known for their ability to capture and store carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. The Amazon rainforest, where cacay trees grow, is often referred to as the "lungs of the earth" because of its crucial role in mitigating climate change. By conserving the cacay trees, the rainforest ecosystem can also be preserved, thus contributing to the mitigation of climate change.

Our cacay oil is extracted from wild harvested cacay trees in the Amazon rainforest. These trees grow naturally in the wild and do not require extensive agricultural practices or deforestation. Harvesting cacay nuts from wild trees minimizes the impact on the environment and helps to preserve the biodiversity of the rainforest.

Support for Indigenous Communities

By promoting the cultivation of cacay, there is an economic incentive for local communities to protect the Amazon rainforest. Instead of engaging in activities that contribute to the deforestation of the rainforest, such as logging or cattle ranching, the indigenous inhabitants can harvest cacay nuts sustainably and sell them for oil extraction. This creates an alternative source of income that supports the conservation of the rainforest.

At the same time, thanks to responsible harvesting methods and the sustainable production of cacay, local communities can preserve their traditional way of life. They can thus earn a secure income while reducing their dependence on environmentally damaging activities.
